Hair Chair Diaries
The chair was never just about hair
Salon podcast
Hair Chair Diaries is a salon podcast about real life, real love, real money and the stories women carry quietly.
For nearly three decades, I worked behind the chair as a hairdresser. Over the years, I realised something powerful. The salon chair was never just a place for hair.
It became a place where women spoke openly.
About relationships.
Divorce.
Motherhood.
Confidence.
Grief.
Money.
Starting again.
The moments that changed them.
The things they were still trying to understand.
Some conversations made us laugh. Some made us cry. Some stayed with me long after the appointment ended.
Hair Chair Diaries was born from those moments.

Why finance is part of the story

After years in the salon, I retrained as a mortgage and protection specialist. That opened my eyes to something I had already been hearing for years.
Behind so many life stories, there is a financial thread.
Women staying in relationships because they cannot afford to leave.
Women rebuilding after divorce.
Women starting again after loss.
Women trying to buy homes, protect their families, clear debt, rebuild credit, start businesses or simply understand the money lessons they were never taught.
Hair Chair Diaries is not financial advice.
It is a space for honest conversations about how life, love, confidence and money often sit closer together than we realise.
What We Talk About
Hair Chair Diaries exists for the conversations that happen when nobody is performing.
The real ones. The ones that start with hair and end with something you have never said out loud before.
We talk about divorce and rebuilding. Relationships and red flags. Grief and loss. Motherhood and identity. Health, menopause and confidence. Money lessons and financial independence. Starting again. Business and career pivots. Self-worth, healing and resilience. And the moments women wish somebody had explained to them sooner.
Every episode is led by real conversation, not a script. And not a single one ends the way we expected it to.
Who is it for
The one who has had to start again, and did it anyway.
The one who is still figuring it out and doing it quietly, without anyone knowing how hard it has been.
The one who feels like everyone else got the manual and she somehow missed the lesson.
The one who wants to hear honest stories instead of polished highlight reels.
The one who just wants to feel less alone.
Hair Chair Diaries is also for anyone who believes that one honest conversation, heard at the right moment, can change how someone sees their own story.

Meet your host
I am Chantelle Dean, founder and host of Hair Chair Diaries.
Twenty-eight years behind the chair taught me something that no qualification ever could. People do not come to the salon just for their hair. They come because it is one of the few places where they can sit down, breathe out, and say the thing they have been carrying all week.
I have been that person on the other side of the chair for nearly three decades.
I have heard the divorces, the redundancies, the health scares, the financial panic, the quiet grief and the big dreams. And what I noticed, time and time again, was how often the real story had money running through the middle of
it.
That observation changed my life. I retrained as a CeMAP qualified Mortgage and Protection Specialist, founded PD Finance Ltd, and started asking a bigger question, what would happen if women had access to the financial conversations they needed before the crisis arrived, not during it?
Hair Chair Diaries is my answer to that question.
I am also a mum, a community builder, the founder of Marston Events, and someone who has lived through enough chapters to know that life rarely follows the plan.
I do not have everything figured out. But I know how to hold space for an honest conversation. And I believe those conversations change things.
Want to Share Your Story?
You do not need a polished story or a perfect ending.
You just need something honest, a lesson, an experience, a chapter that could help someone else feel less alone, more informed, or a little braver about whatever comes next.
If that sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
